From the mouth of a 6 year old....

This afternoon Dennis was talking on the phone with his cousin Renee. At one point he said something about Renee buying a 'knee brace'. Bastian heard that and and turned to me and said "Who is Aneebrace? I've never met him. Is it Renee's son or something?" Between my giggles I had to tell him that it wasn't Aneebrace, but a KNEE brace, a bandage for the knee.

Renee, if you are reading this...I hope your knee feels better. And tell Anee that Bastian said 'hi' :)

(stay tuned in the next couple days for a post with pictures from last weekends Learning Fair at the boys school)

Are you against me Magic School Bus?

We were just watching an episode of the Magic School Bus that I had DVR'ed. It was all about eggs. So, Spencer and Gideon wanted to know if the eggs we buy at wegmans has baby chicks in them ("Let's talk about chicks, man!"). Of course Dennis just tells the boys no. I, being the glutton for punishment I am, tell the kids no because you need a rooster to make the hens eggs have a chick in it. And, this led to some confusion on the boys part. So, using generalized terms I had to try to explain that hens can lay eggs, but if there was a chick in the egg then the rooster had to help create that egg. Meanwhile, Dennis is hiding his face behind his book, probably thinking "If I can't see them then they can't see me, and they wont ask me any of these questions." or possibly he was thinking "What the heck is Jess teaching these kids?!" or maybe even "Mwahahahaha, I hope they ask Jess exactly how the rooster helps make the chick! Mwahahahaha!" (But I'm sure he didn't know that if the boys had asked me that then I would have said "Well, I bet daddy could explain it better then I can!") Lucky for me the boys were happy with the explanation I gave and did not ask more questions. Darn me and my philosophy of answering questions completely and honestly!
