The kids were so happy to see him the next morning! Then Dennis, the babies, and I went for our traditional Valentines Day lunch at the Candy Kitchen in town, where we exchanged our gifts. Now, Dennis set a $30 limit on gifts, so I bought him materials and fabric to be used as a backdrop when he's on his webcam for his internet radio show. Not very romantic, is it? But he claims he loves it haha. He bought me a heartshaped box full of my favorite Candy Kitchen chocolates (what? you thought that Candy Kitchen was just a delicious diner? Oh, no my friend! Not only are they a delicious diner, but they make delicious chocolates too. Mozzarella sticks and peanut butter cups, all in the same place. Does it get any better then that?) Ok, so, chocolates are a great Valentines gift...but wait, there's more! He also bought
Considering I was totally kidding about expecting a great present after his trip, this blew me away! I love it so much! I need to get it sized so I'm hoping they can wrap the heart around my engagement ring. Dennis is the best guy in the world. I'm a lucky lucky girl.
We got each of them (besides Lincoln) a contoured temporpedic pillow. Spencer and Gideon got chargers for their Wii remotes, Bastian got a Ben 10 toy (it's a cartoon character on Cartoon Network), Moira got a babydoll stroller, and Lincoln got a tonka truck. And, Dennis also bought them a box of candy to share.
We also took the kids out to eat. We wanted to take them to Red Robin (ok, back story on this one...about a week ago we were out with the kids running errands, and we drove by the Red Robins restaurant in Webster, and from the seat behind me I hear Bastian say "Monkey wants my burger! Monkey wants my burger!" which is their favorite commercial. Bastian was able to read the Red Robin sign all by himself. I almost died laughing...ok, here's a link to see the commercial if you don't know it: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Q-8RUxmdPzE) (by the way, I totally can't believe I got you to watch a commercial in the middle of my blog. I'm an ad genius.)
So, anyway, we were planning to go to Red Robin, and we pulled into the parking lot and saw the huge line, and changed our mind. So then we decided to try a new place that opened up on 104, but they had a 30 minute wait too. So, in the end we went to Charlies...which was just as good, and it was practically empty. I guess people don't find burger joints romantic? Weirdos.
So, yep, it was a good Valentines Day all around :)
Oh, and just to add to the general wonderfulness of my life...we got our new bed delivered on Tuesday:
That's a HUGE bed isn't it?
Here's the babies pretending to sleep (although Lincoln has no idea what he's supposed to be doing...but they sure are cute!)
Since my diet is shot (ok, not really, I've managed not to gain anything this week and I consider that a good accomplishment) I figured I should ruin your diet...and if you are not on a diet I don't think I want to be your friend. Looks yummy doesn't it?
