Odd things I've said today...and other ramblings

I've got to give some props to my iVillage board that I'm a co-leader for (the November 2006 Ginger Snaps in the hizzouse, whoop whoop!) (the Ginger Snaps is a message board for mama's of babies born in November 2006) We had our very first "Post Off" on Saturday. A post off is when two, or more, boards go head to head and see who can post the most messages on their board in a 24 hour period, from midnight to midnight. We were challenged by the November 2007 Apple Dumplings. So, what did I do on Saturday? Well, starting at 12am I was posting on my board. Silly posts with 1 or 2 word answers. We had a bunch of members that were right there at midnight posting away. Slowly through the early morning hours they drifted away. I stayed until 5am, then went to sleep. I figured I'd sleep till at least 11 or so, but I had a dream about posting, woke up at just before 9 and couldn't stop thinking about the post off. So I thought I would just peek in and see what our posting number was compared to our competition. But I got sucked in and couldn't go back to sleep, so I just started posting again...and posting...and posting...and posting. And, kept going till midnight. Dennis took care of the house and kids and I was able to devote my whole day to my board. In that 24 hour period, I posted for 20 hours and 16 minutes, and made 1,120 posts :) I came in third place of most posts from my board. Dennis kept saying to me "Stop reading the replies! Just post!!" Who knew we were so competitive? Anyway, my board won (Go Ginger Snaps!!!) with 18,717 posts in 24 hours. Not bad, huh?

Yesterday, I recovered. Hahaha.

Last night before bed Dennis turns to me and says "Who is getting up with the kids tomorrow?". Since Dennis was so great on Saturday doing all the kid/house stuff while I posted, I figured it would be pretty rude of me to say "You are!" So, I got up at 6 to get Spencer ready for his 7am bus, then Bastian and Gideon get up at a bit after 7 to get ready for their 8:20 bus. Lincoln and Moira wake up between 7 and 8.
On the days I get up early I'm lucky if I get 4 hours sleep. I just can never sleep well. Yesterday I got about 3 hours. So, needless to say I was a bit grumpy. Before Dennis left he told me to try to catch a nap after the babies go down. So, about 2 I lay down to try to catch a 30 minute nap before Spencer gets home. 15 minutes into it, the phone rings...it's Dennis. GRRR. He asks if I was able to nap, I said "I was...till you called" LOL. He was calling to see if I needed him to stop at the store.
Well, I guess he felt kind of guilty, so he stopped at the store and bought all the fixings for him to grill out tonight for dinner to take advantage of the 64* weather.
Nothing like a little guilt, huh?

I just realized I haven't talked about our Niagara Falls trip yet! Silly me. Dennis and I went for 2 nights, February 21st-23rd. I bought a 2 night package for us for Dennis's Christmas present. nice of me to buy him a present that's for me, too, huh? Yeah, that's how I roll. Mom and Dad watched the kids, and the kids had a blast. Ok, well, for some reason Lincoln screamed when Mom got near him. I have no idea what that was about! But, the boys said they had a great time. Moira keeps asking when Nana and Papa are coming back to see her.
Here's a slide show from the trip: http://s212.photobucket.com/albums/cc98/luvmy5monkeys/Niagara%20Falls%20Feb%2008/?action=view&current=3744d18c.pbw
The whole time we were there, everything we did we said "The kids would love this!" So, after we got home and showed the kids the 243 pictures we took (what do you mean the slide show was enough for you? There are 224 pictures left to see!) they asked us when we could go back. So, I looked online at the hotel we stayed at to see what their family package was like. They have a great package, so I think we are going to book it for the beginning of November (as a family combination birthday present-for Spencer, Dennis and Lincoln- and anniversary present for us) I looked to see what it would cost to do the package in July (busy season) and it's $500. To go in November (off season) the exact same package is $224. Whoo Hoo. Is it sad that I'm excited for a trip that's still 8 months away?
But, on a serious note...the time away just Dennis and I was so fantastic. We hadn't done that for 5 years...or 2 kids ago if you want to look at it that way. I'm hoping if I wait until closer to the end of the year, Mom and Dad will be recovered from the monkeys and will have entered into that denial phase of memories. You know the one, where somehow you only remember all the good things that happened and forget all the bad. So, hopefully by later this year Mom and Dad will be in that phase and I can con them into possibly doing it again sometime next year.

And now, on to a new feature of my blog. One, that I'm afraid to say will probably be a running feature:
Odd Things I've Said Today.....
~stop farting on me!
~Lincoln! Stop drawing on your sister!
~next naked butt I see I'm gonna spank!
~no. I don't like balloons. really. I don't. Seriously. Please get it out of my face.
~wha? huh? ummm, yeah. Ok. sure.Wait! What?
~if you dont eat your breakfast then you wont have eaten breakfast. (it was 6:30am, so understandable I was unintelligible)
~Moira, you'll have to tell Daddy if you want a new baby sister.
~Lincoln, don't sit on your sister.
~for crying out loud...STOP FARTING!!!

And now I conclude this installment of my blog...because Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives is on.....
